What a year it has been — New Zealand has made the headlines with hosting the Rugby World Cup and the All Blacks lifting the winners’ trophy, earthquakes in Christchurch and a cooler than average summer.
Despite the global economic difficulties we can look back on a satisfactory summer season. It is always with great joy that we receive new and repeat guests, many of whom have become dear friends. The quiet luxury of The Peppertree accommodation with the personal touch is much appreciated, as are the delicious cooked breakfasts with homemade conserves, bread and pastries, as well as organically grown fruit from our garden. We are proud to continue to maintain our Qualmark 5 star grade “exceptional among the best available in New Zealand” in the category “Guest and Hosted”.
Our informal welcome drink for guests on the day of arrival is the perfect opportunity to meet up, and taste a glass of the “Peppertree Chardonnay”, lovingly tended and organically produced in our boutique vineyard. At the same time, our guests can sample our home grown olive oil. The 2012 vintage “Peppertree Chardonnay” promises to be excellent. In line with the whole Marlborough region, the inclement early summer weather has also reduced the quantity of our grapes by about 30-40%, but a beautifully warm autumn allowed them to ripen to full sweetness. The harvest this year was exceptionally late, and even in the morning of our harvest day, St. Peter sent a rain shower so that we could only start cutting the bunches in the afternoon. Any guests staying at The Peppertree on the day are always welcome to join in. The customary barbeque took place in the evening and was a most enjoyable celebration continuing into a balmy autumn night.
With a view to further increasing the area for relaxation for our guests, apart from the established gardens, we are in the process of installing a pond in the centre of our olive grove. A variety of indigenous plants and shrubs around it will also provide a haven for wildlife. However, this will not restrict the helicopter landing area for the scenic flights, which have proved very popular again, starting and ending at The Peppertree.
Naturally, there are plenty of other activities also available in the area, enticing guests to extend their stay over a few days. Details of these and a view of the extensive gardens, as well as the individually furnished luxury accommodation can be found on our website: http://www.thepeppertree.co.nz
Happily, we are able to keep our rates for the 2013/14 season unchanged from the previous season without impacting on quality of service and personal touch, along with cancellation and child policy. We would be delighted to welcome any of your valued customers as our guests in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.
With our best wishes
